
IF I CAN, EVERYONE CAN!
Here is something to all beautiful women out there playing multiple roles in their life. From being an entrepreneur to being a housewife, from being a perfect wife to a being her child’s Mamamia, pushing her limits to keep her surrounding happy and deep down the lane that is all she wants and all that she needs.
Well, in the process most of us women forget to take care of themselves. The busy, hectic lifestyle, The irregular food, managing work and family life, stress and sleep habits causing most of the women to be unfit and weak.
I, Dr. Akhila Joshi or just Akhila for you all, have a story to tell you, a story about how I transformed my life and took a step towards fitness, how fitness totally changed my life.
Fitness to me was never about hitting the gym and gaining mass but it was all about how confident I feel from the inside out.
To be fit is to be comfortable under your own skin and enjoy what ever we do !
Since my childhood, I was fortunate enough to have parents who understood importance of health eating. They nurtured me of eating nutritious food. Be it , fresh fruits or leafy vegetables. Though I was not athletic , I always was very much into fitness, like going long walks or working in farm with my grand parents. I really loved dancing and learnt many forms of it and practice it to the day.
Things changed when I got married. It’s a new life with new responsibilities. It was really difficult for me to manage time. I got pregnant, and things changed. Though I had to fell out of my routine some times, I stayed active while I was pregnant, walking daily, practicing yoga and eating healthy. All of which helped undergo normal delivery of Soukhya, my sweet little daughter in Dec 2016.
Then, in March of 2017, 2 months after my daughter was born, I went clothes shopping. I remember happily choosing outfits to try on at first, since I was shopping for an outfit to wear out for my brother’s wedding. I got to the dressing room, hands full of clothes, and tried on —my normal size pre-pregnancy. They didn’t even come close to fitting. I sat down in the dressing room and started crying.
I couldn’t believe I’d let it reach this point. I had gained over 15 kgs during the nine + two months. I was also suppose to restart my practice at my clinic. Being Weight Management and Lifestyle consultant , first thing your patient or client look up to you as an example. I was no where close to that.
It was high time for me!
I still remember the morning I got up, I tied up shoes and went out on the tracks for jogging and trust me, I never felt this alive! The sudden adrenaline, I felt like I was born again and there was no way looking back. I pulled back myself in to a routine that would take care of my daughter and also ensure I focus on my goal. For the next 6 months I followed healthy eating and exercise with all my dedication and well, here I am. Transformed into what I always wanted to be.
Well, This was my very little journey towards being fit.
Today, I run my own Signature Clinic where me and my team help people getting fit, lose or gain healthy weight , manage chronic health issues like PCOD,Thyroid, Diabetes through simple Lifestyle modifications. Making them feel Happy and comfortable about themselves.
